“Every spiritual tradition, East or West, speaks about waking up as an essential part of progress on the path. Whether the goal is God, enlightenment, or the experience of bliss, it is blocked because almost everyone is asleep.“
~ Deepak Chopra
WAKE UP! Itis time to wake up, rise up and remember who and what you are. And what are you, you might ask? Simple:
“A divine magnificent spirit of love and light”
That is what you are before you came to earth. That is what you are while here on earth. That is what you will be when you return to were you originally came from.
So why are so many people sleep walking their way through life never really awake?
Because from day one people are domesticated to live in fear, and it is easier to stay asleep than face your fears. I’m not talking about fear of spiders, or snakes. No! I’m talking about the three king fears that rule each and every human being on planet earth.
- Fear of rejection
- Fear of not being good enough
- Fear of not getting what you want
Those fears. They have been so engrained in our lives from the beginning of time, it is impossible to not have them. Our every decision is made on one, if not all three of those fears.
So, what are you going to do about it? The first and most important thing is you have to be able to see how this applies to your own life. Do YOU believe you are still asleep, that there is something better, greater for you? Or are you content with walking through life as if it were some robotic patterns of work, sleep, eat, eventually marry, have kids, and then repeat, work, sleep, eat with the occasional vacation to Disney land, Consciously or unconsciously letting fear dictate your every decision. Never really being present in the moment but living in past regrets or future worries.
Any negative emotion is based on fear. Anger, jealousy, resentment, the list is infinite. If you feel one of these emotions, look and ask yourself, “What is MY fear behind it?” If you are honest, you will see that one of the three king fears I listed above, if not all, is behind it.
This is what paying attention is. It is being in the present moment at all times. When you are able to see which fear is causing you to feel these negative emotions, then you can start to change your outlook and the waking up process begins.
Paying attention affords you the opportunity to see when you keep repeating the same pattern, thinking “Nothing ever changes, this is my lot in life, if only…” You can then make the conscious decision to change and live in the present moment. It’s up to you.
This takes work. Like anything else we do to better ourselves, Work is involved. Daily practices and trust and surrender. Waking up isn’t a one-day realization but a series of acknowledgements that the only thing you will ever have in this world is this moment.
As you start to wake up, you will realize that you no longer react to situations, but stop, think, and act. You become conscious of how you treat yourself and others around you. You realize the past has no longer has power over you anymore when you let it go, stay in the present moment, and do the next right thing.
As you continue to wake up a sense of gratitude engulfs you and petty, little things no longer affect you. You are no longer concerned with what-haves, could-haves, should-haves. You are present. You live in a different way. You start to see the beauty all around you, every moment of every second of every day.
As you wake up you take more interest in your fellow man and less interest in selfish, self-seeking ways. You realize your true potential is endless and the robotic life of work, sleep, eat starts to fade. You find a rich amount of abundance all around you. An irrepressible amount of joy that you want to share with your fellow man. You speak your truth and stop following and worshiping others. You think clearly for yourself and see all perfection and every divine virtue are hidden within you. You share this with the world to see, because you are now awake.
You find that when you awaken to the divine magnificent spirit of love and light that you are you live with “Love, truth and simplicity.” Not in “fear, self-loathing, and self-seeking.” Life takes on a much deeper meaning for you and it feels good. You want to share this with everyone and you just might do that.
Get ride of the garbage that swirls around your head. The judge who is always telling you that you’re not good enough, you could have done this or that better. Stop comparing your insides to everyone else’s outsides.
WAKE UP! Be the dynamo of irrepressible joy that you are.
